Educational
Endowments
The
Board of Directors for The Monument of the Immortals
has established guidelines and minimum gift level amounts
for educational endowments supporting the mission and
purpose of the Council of Scholars. The
gift levels described below are intended only as minimum
amounts needed to establish the respective academic
or research opportunity. In most cases, gifts may be
made over as long as a five-year period. Individual
endowers of educational programs receive Life Member
status in the Supporting Memberships program.

Descriptions:
1. Endowed
Research Fund___________________ $1,000,000
To
establish a research fund for the Council of
Scholars, a minimum gift of $1,000,000 for
endowment is required, depending on the size
and scope of the dedicated project.
The
annual earnings from the endowment will be used
to finance all subsequent research.

2. Endowed
Learning Laboratory ________________$500,000
To
establish an endowed Learning Laboratory for
the Discovery Center for Children, a minimum
gift commitment of $500,000 is
required, depending on the size and scope of
the laboratory.
The
annual earnings from the endowment will be used
to finance equipment and furnishings.

3. Endowed
Library Funds____________________ _ $250,000
To
establish an endowed Library Fund for the Council
of Scholars, a minimum gift commitment of $250,000 is
required.
The
income from the endowment may be used for the
acquisition and maintenance of educational
materials supporting the mission and purpose
of The Monument of the Immortals.

4. Endowed
Chair ____________________________$100,000
To
establish an endowed Chair for the Council
of Scholars, a minimum gift commitment of $100,000 is
required. The Chair may be restricted to specific
areas of study in the fields of Olympism and
Truce.
The
primary purpose of the endowment is to recruit
scholars of stellar quality, and endowment
funds shall be used to provide stipends and
program support toward the specific area of
study.
The
Board of Directors shall remain responsible
for the selection and tenure of the Chair.

5. Endowed
Scholar ____________________________$75,000
To
establish an endowed fund for general members
of the Council of Scholars, a minimum gift
commitment of $75,000 is required,
depending on the particular scholastic field
of concentration.
The
funds will be used to help retain and support
existing members of the Council of Scholars
in the form of research grants and/or program
support.
Each
fund may support multiple recipients.

6. Endowed
Graduate Fellowship _________________$50,000
To
establish an endowed Graduate Fellowship Opportunity
in support of the Council of Scholars, a minimum
gift commitment of $50,000 is
required, depending on the discipline, size,
and scope of the opportunity.
A
graduate fellowship may be awarded to a qualified
student working toward an advanced degree in
subject areas supporting the mission and purpose
of The Monument of the Immortals.

7. Endowed
Lecture Series ______________________$25,000
To
establish an endowed Rotating Lectureship from
among the Council of Scholars, a minimum gift
commitment of $25,000 is required,
depending on the size and scope of the lecture
series.
The
annual proceeds from this endowment will be
used to pay for honoraria, publicity, and the
expenses of the lecturer.

8. Other
Endowed Funds________________________$10,000
The
endowed funds and other funding requirements
described above are listed because of their
broad appeal to donors. A variety of other
programs, including educational exhibitions,
will also require funding and offer numerous
opportunities for giving. The minimum donation
required to establish an endowment is $10,000.
The
Board of Directors shall have the latitude
to approve the establishment of endowments
in amounts less than those stated above, with
the understanding that, within a reasonable
period of time from the establishment of the
fund, the principal thereof, including additional
gifts, shall equal the stated minimum.
If
the stated minimum is not achieved, the endowment
may be terminated and the funds expended for
the benefit of the alternative endowment category
originally specified by the donor.
