Eleftheria Polychronis
President,
American Hellenic Council of California
Monday, July 8, 2002
To Whom it May Concern:The American
Hellenic Council of California is proud to endorse the
Concept presented by Makis Havadjias regarding the ‘’Monument
of Immortals’’ That it is to be erected in
ancient Olympia. We think that the idea of a monument
Honoring all the Olympic Winners throughout times is
a wonderful o-ne and it Will bring back to light a forgotten
part of the ancient Greek Olympic Games. It Will also
be very valuable for Greece.
The media coverage that will be generated And the influx
of tourism that will be a product of this endeavor will
be highly Beneficial to our country, both in cultural
and economic terms. Moreover, this Will mean that no
matter where the Olympic Games will be held, the Olympic
Winners will return to Greece, the country where the
games were born, at the End of each Olympiad. Last but
not least, Olympia will host the first universal Monument
in the world and will attract visitors forever, regardless
of their nationality, Color, religion or political beliefs.
For all these reasons, we want to express our support
to this concept and We will be happy and proud to contribute
to its realization.Sincerely,
Eleftheria Polychronis
President
